Anticipating Retirement, Shirly first startrd attending "Granny Classes", in Art at Carlingford, conducted by Senior Student of Ryde TAFE.
Every six weeks the class had a new tudor and learned different techniques.

Shortly after Shirly and Bill moved to Maryborough.

Shirly maintained her interest in Art stuying with Kevin Taylor and attending Margaret Johnston's Tuesday classes.
